40 Years ... Our History...
In 1969 K Brothers Art Shoppe and Gallery was established as an artist materials, picture framing shoppe and art gallery at 242 Algonquin Ave. In 1976 K Bros Art was purchased by George Maroosis who moved it into the present larger site at 232 Algonquin Ave in 1979.
In the gallery we have specialized in original Canadian Art with native art being a major feature. In the early years we featured art by the founder of the Woodland School of Art Norval Morrisseau and his brothers-in-law Joshim and Goyce Kakegamic. See references in the Canadian Dictionary of Artists compiled by Colin S. MacDonald.
At the same time our contemporary Canadian Artists included such notables as Peter Fromme-Douglas, David Jean, Richard Karon, John Kinnear, Jamie Lindsay, Julius Marosan, Steve Oestertag (Stevens), Ernest Taylor and Arto Yuzbasian.

We're back...
Thank you for your patience with the Maroosis Art Centre blogspot, we have been experiencing some technical difficulties, in that said difficulty has finally managed to get back on-line, metaphorically speaking. The Maroosis family are pleased though to welcome you to the new era of blogging and hope you will find our 'fare' to your liking. Much has happened since we last posted: our gallery has completed its final transformation and now hosts an exciting array of artists' works from around the province. We were also a host gallery for the 2007 Frontera exhibition this summer. We specialise in native art from Northern Ontario as well as local North Bay artists - but we have also been known to dabble further afield. We have recently been showcasing an in-store native artist, Jack - who works in both soap-stone sculpture and original paintings - stay tuned to learn more about what is going on.
We have also completed our changes in the K Bros Artists Supplies section, which includes a range of artists' tools to accomodate the beginner to the master. Our experienced staff are available to assist with an array of queries, with helpful advice.
Our Arcadian Framing department - The Picture Framing Centre - is equipped to handle both corporate framing needs as well as private clientelle. We have built strong local links with our expertise and perform both restoration and appraisal work.
We have over 30 years experience in all of our areas of business and offer the quality which comes with that length of time. If you have any queries, please ring us.
And stay tuned to hear more about some of our exciting areas of expansion.

December Greetings....

The snow has finally decided to make an appearance here in North Bay which has allowed for an opportunity to update our blog site. We have decided to showcase the various images of our shop and would like to welcome any comments or questions. This is our art supply department. We carry a number of both artist and student quality mediums and are happy to assist both the seasoned veteren or beginner with any queries.
